Hydration
Do you ever find that days where you might be really busy or just forget to drink water tend to be the days where you get tired faster, you might get a headache or you just simply feel terrible when you are training?
Why fluid is important:
During exercise, and as we sweat our body temperature increases and it is by sweating that our body can maintain an optimal temperature. The heat is then removed by the body when our beads of sweat evaporate, resulting in a loss of body fluids. When the intensity of our session grows, this rate of sweat loss also increases as a result.
It is absolutely vital that you make a conscious effort to try and replace the fluid lost through sweating. For the majority of athletes, it will be impossible to directly replace the fluid lost through sweat during your exercise, but getting as much fluid on board when you can help the onset of the many negative effects related to dehydration which are mentioned in the image below:
- Impaired cognitive function
- Decrease in aerobic performance
- Lower power output
- Ability to push yourself decreases
- Body temp unable to regulate, therefore increasing Heart Rate
