What Is Metabolic Testing
Metabolic Testing has 2 primary tests. A Resting Metabolic Rate(RMR) test, which in short measures the amount of energy(calories) your body requires to function at rest. So if you were lying in bed all day and did not move, this would be the number of calories your body would need to have your organs functioning at 100% within reason.
So if you have ever been given Calorie recommendations by somebody, it’s always just an estimation until you get one of these tests done.
The results of this test will allow us to then make a Scientific recommendation on the number of calories you need to consume, relative to your goal, be it weight loss, weight gain, performance or just maintaining a healthy weight. This can be very beneficial if you just want to know a bit more about your own physiology. The peace of mind is very powerful.
Your VO2 max is representative of your aerobic capacity. It is the maximum amount of oxygen your body can consume and use during exercise. Think of it as your engine size. Testing it can help identify limiting factors in performance that we can then improve upon using nutrition and training. By recognizing your VO2 max, we can then determine your specific heart rate training zones to really dial in your training.
Metabolic testing is for everybody, and everybody can get some value from it. So if you are interested in finding out a little more about your own body specifically, this will give you invaluable data.
